Youth exchange „Young People on a Solidary Planet“ invited young people from different european countries to France to discuss various topics regarding global problems, their solutions and possibilities of future development of our planet. This project took place from 15th to 22nd August 2010 in beautiful Sion, France.
In our opinion, to be European citizen means also to be responsible global citizen. On the other hand, all the global issues affect also the European countries. The project made young people more sensitive to topics like environment and eco-citizenship, human rights, migration, overpopulation and demographic problems, intercultural and interreligious dialogue, climate changes and global warming, sustainable development, gender equality, etc.
Young people discovered these topics through simulation games, excercises, activities for interaction with local community, discussions in small groups, plenary sessions, concrete actions workshops, etc.
Europe is one of the global leaders. But we must be in the front not only in the economic progress and competitiveness. We should also be responsible global citizens and be a positive example in how we can deal sustainably with the environmental and human potential around us. In the every-day life in our countries, we can also contribute to solving some of the global problems. That is why we want to make young Europeans more aware of these issues.
